Description

Comet 103P/Hartley is a rather active periodical comet. NASA did a flyby of it during the EPOXI mission in 2010. It emits mainly CO2 which drags with it water ice and dust. When I photographed it, it was both close to earth and to its perihelion. It would've been brighter and larger about two weeks later but by then it had dropped below my horizon.
