Description

Veil Nebula

This is the remnant of a supernova that occurred 10,000 to 20,000 years ago when a star about 20 times more massive than our sun exploded. It is estimated to about 2,400 light-years from Earth and the diameter is about 100 or more light-years across. From our vantage point on Earth, it's about 3 degrees wide (approximately the size of six full moons).

This is a 2 panel mosaic with 20 hours on each panel, 40 hours of integration in total. Ha and O3 filters with RGB stars.
