Description

Data: The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada Robotic Telescope
Object: M106 - Spiral Galaxy in Canes Venatici
Date: Feb / March 2022

Hardware:
Exposure 12.5 hours - Lum: 6.5 hours, RGB: 6 hours
Location Sierra Remote Observatories, Auberry, California
Telescope RCOS 16" f/8.9 (3550mm focal length)
CCD Camera SBIG STX16803 16MP (4096 x 4096)
Mount Paramount MEFilters SBIG LRGB

It has been very cloudy of late (omnipresent Troposphere Nebula?) so I have processed some contest data kindly provided by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada through their SkyNews magazine publication.

The reds are quite muted - given the nature of this galaxy I believe it would have benefited greatly from a few Ha subs.

PI Stretching and Curves was done using the GHS script. This was my first usage of the internal script masking (using masks from the range process and Game script masks.)
