Description

IC 1805, the Heart Nebula, is an emission nebula 7500 light years away in the constellation Cassiopeia. It was discovered by William Herschel on November 3rd, 1787. The gas cloud that makes up the nebula glows as a result of the intense radiation from the open cluster of stars at the center of the nebula, which itself is classified as Melotte 15.
