Description

IC405 is both an emission and reflection nebula that lies in the constellation Auriga.

The reflection part of the nebula gives the bluish color in opposition with the red color of the emission nebula.

The nebula surrounds the bluish star AE Aurigae of magnitude +6.0 (which can be barely seen with the naked eye).

This beautiful nebula is about 1500 light years away and 5 light years across.
