This picture is a single shot of the heart nebula made by a Dsrl with a h-alpha filter from which I extrapolated only the red channel to better highlight the frameworks due to the ionized hydrogen. Because of the longtime of pose I used a low Iso to avoid overexposing and, at the same time, not to get too much away from the “best Iso” of the Dsrl (200 Iso) so to not lose too much in dynamics. The Heart Nebula is located in a very large HII region, whose distance is estimated to be around 7500 light years from us; its main feature is the presence of two large apparently empty areas, of different sizes, which make the nebula similar to a "heart". Inside there is a system of small, poorly concentrated open clusters, responsible for the ionization of the nebula. The most remakable of these is Melotte 15, which contains some stars about 50 times more massive than the Sun, plus others smaller and a microquasar ejected millions years ago.This and the nearby IC 1848 form a large cloud complex known as the W3 / W4 / W5 or "Heart and Soul" complex; the "heart" is IC 1805, while the "soul" is represented by IC 1848. Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
