Description

I took my big 11" Celestron reflector telescope out last night to capture the Supermoon. This is the first of three supermoons that will occur this year. The next two will be on May 26th and June 24th. May 26th will be extra special because the supermoon will occur during a full moon. A supermoon is when a full or new moon that is close to perigee, or the the point where the moons monthly orbital point is closest to earth. This occurred last night around 11:32pm, and is represented by this photo that I captured. My big reflector has so much focal length, even with the a 0.7x FR on, that I had to capture six separate panels and stitch them together to be able to see the entire moon. The moon is one of my favorite targets. This was the first time using my ASI183mm-cool for planetary. Other than the camera's UV-IR filter, no other filters were used.
