Description

Captured from my backyard in Tasmania, this image of the SH2-308 Dolphin Nebula represents a total of 50 hours of exposure, with 30 hours dedicated to oxygen data and 20 hours to hydrogen data. The image is processed in the HOO palette, highlighting the intricate structures and delicate details of this cosmic bubble.SH2-308, also known as the Dolphin Nebula, is an emission nebula located approximately 4,500 light-years away in the constellation Canis Major. It is formed by the powerful stellar winds from the Wolf-Rayet star EZ Canis Majoris, which has created a bubble of ionized gas approximately 60 light-years in diameter. This beautiful nebula showcases the dynamic processes at play in the lifecycle of massive stars.
