Description

This is my 1st image with my new RisingCam ATR3-1700KPA, which has the Sony IMX432 sensor with 9µm pixels.
It should match well with my 8" SC with 2000mm FL.
I found some noticeable amp glow and therefore had to meticulously work on matching darks and calibration. After using the very same parameters for darks and using "no optimization" in calibration, the amp glow actually was removed by calibration.
Seeing was not optimal during acquisition hence the stars are at FWHM 5.2, however the fact that I did not use IR cut filter may also contribute to that.
The image was taken with HCG mode and
offset 0
gain 318
at -20°C
90 sec exposure time.
I'm still investigating what would be best parameters, haven't tried out LCG mode yet.
I tried SharpCap smart brain function to get recommendation for optimal exposure time but decided to deviate from it slightly, since I do not trust my small mount to be able to manage longer exposure times.
Guiding was during the 2 hours avg 1.3 rms, with long periods at 0.7 but bursts of bad outliers.
Ambient temperature was around 0°C.

The image does not only show the owl nebula but also some galaxies nearby, which are at 2 o'clock from the nebula, they are mag 17 and there is a quasars at 9 o'clock, which is mag 19, see
http://cdsportal.u-strasbg.fr/?target=%5BVV2006%5D%20J111504.4%2B550143%20  .

I think I will revisit this object and dedicate more overall exposure time to bring out the fainter details.
