Description

My first time on the so-called: "Trunk Nebula", a Cepheus nebula.

It is located towards the central area of the great nebulous complex known as IC 1396, a few arc primes west of the open cluster associated with the nebula; despite its small size, it stands out with a discreet ease, due to its deep darkness and its shape, which gave it the nickname Elephant Proboscis. Being at very northern declinations, it appears circumpolar from most of the northern hemisphere; all around it appears to be surrounded by a relatively rich star field, and the presence of the diffuse nebulosity of IC 1396 further enhances its nature as a dark nebula. The dark trail is interrupted by two eighth-magnitude stars. (source: Wikipedia)
