Description

Technically known as LDN1235, this dark reflection nebula is a vast region of molecular dust in the constellation Cepheus and gets its darkness by absorbing the light from the stars behind it.⁣

We are stardust.

This was a very difficult image to process, the dust regions are very faint and I really had to push it to make it stand out amongst the background sky. This type of target really needs a lot more exposure time if you’re trying to capture from a highly light polluted location, such as a city. I found this ‘lost’ data while looking for something to do, the clouds have been relentless here in southern Alberta over the past 14 weeks, very atypical for winter. I hope you like it!⁣

15hr 40mins total exposure time⁣, 2x drizzle
