Description

Mu Cephei, also known as Herschel's Garnet Star, Erakis, or HD 206936, is a red supergiant in the constellation Cepheus.  It is nealry 100,000 times brighter than the Sun, and it is one of the largest stars known.  Its radius is about 1000 times that of the Sun, and were it placed in the Sun's position, it would engulf the orbit of Mars and Jupiter!
