Description

This rarely imaged object is Sh2-170, also known as the "Little Rosette" Nebula, an emission nebula in Cassiopeia.  It lies in the Perseus arm of our galaxy around 7500 light years distant. The bright star at the nebula's center ionizes the surrounding hydrogen gas and causes it to glow. The nebula takes the form of a ring similar to the Rosette Nebula is 2/3rds the size of the full moon. While it is not small in size, it is a very faint and relatively unknown object.   (Wikipedia)
