Description

NGC 1333 is a reflection nebula located 1,000 lightyears away in the constellation Perseus.  The nebula lies on the edge of a large star-forming region and contains hundreds of stars that are as young as less than one million years old.  The glow from these  young stars is what illuminates NGC 1333 and makes it such a unique deep-sky target.  It shows details of the dusty region along with telltale hints of contrasty red emission from Herbig-Haro objects, jets and shocked glowing gas emanating from recently formed stars.
