Description

First successful image with my ED 102 (FCD-100), and mono setup!
These are two famous galaxies located in Ursa Major each located about 12 million light years away. M82, the Cigar Galaxy, is famous for its Ha starburst which I managed to capture. In this starburst region, stars are being born 10x faster than in our own galaxy! Both galaxies are surrounded by bright dust, which appear in this image as gray whisps. Holmberg IX, an irregular dwarf satellite galaxy of M81, is seen to the top right of M81.

This image is 5h of Ha and 15h of LRGB for a total of 20h.
Optical Specifications: 714mm f/7 (1.1"/pix)
