Description

Baily's beads/diamond ring on entry and exit from the total solar eclipse of April 8, 2024, as seen from Dallas, TX. I've superimposed a 1/1600 sec exposure from just before C2 on a 1/4000 sec exposure from just past C3. The result shows all of the prominences that were visible at different times during totality. Also, notice that the beads are not on opposite sides of the Moon. On entry to totality it looks as though the beads are in the Oceanus Procellarum (11 o'clock), while on exit they are near Mare Fecunditatis (4 o'clock). Both appear to be lower in elevation than surrounding areas along the Moon's limb (https://photoephemeris.com/articles/where-can-i-see-bailys-beads-on-8-april-2024).
