This image became more challenging than expected due to the star shine from the bright star Deneb outside the upper left corner. This cast a purple to red gradient from top right to bottom left. This is more prominent in the non cropped version. I tried several ways to reduce the gradient, but will probably have to go back some cloudy night and redo from the base image.

I again used the Ha luminance layer with deconvolution. I probably over sharpened trying to pull out some of the formation in the hydrogen dust cloud which over sharpened the area around the dark dust in the leftcenter of the image.

The nebula is the famous counter part to the North American Nebula in Cygnus near the bright star Deneb that is high in the Summer sky. The nebula is located an estimated 1,800 light years from earth. The to bright stars area are irradiating the surrounding Hydrogen gas that cause the ionization of the diffuse hydrogen nebula. Also present near the neck of the pelican are two prominent dust filaments that named Herbig-Harob objects. These are jets of cold molecular gas emanating from newly formed pro-stars that send the material out at several hundred kilometers per second. The bright hydrogen ridge where these structures are located is an estimated 10 light years in size with the entire hydrogen cloud 25 x 30 light years by my basic calculations. Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
