Description

Going deep into the Heart nebula region reveals many faint, often overlooked, gems. I framed this image to incorporate the relative blinding brilliance and red toned warm colours of the Heart nebula and contrasted it with cool blue of the extremely faint HB3 supernova remnant in the lower right of the image. HB3 is a supernova remnant first catalogued by radio astronomers and imaged in its full extent optically in February of 2022. Also visible in the top, right of center, is a small planetary nebula(StDr 61) first discovered on 2021 by the team of Strottner-Drechsler. It is a small and extremely faint nebula 15 arcmin in size at a distance of 800LY. This project was really pushing the limits of what I can do in a bortle 6+ zone. Lots of time was needed and could benefit from even more! the Askar FRA300 held up really well do this long torture test through +20 to -20 degree temperatures.

Thanks for looking
