Description

The Eagle Nebula (M16) is a young open cluster of stars about is about 5700 light-years away in the constellation Serpens.

Images from the Hubble Space Telescope in 1995  improved scientific understanding of processes inside the nebula. One of these became famous as the "Pillars of Creation", depicting a large region of star formation.

This is a SHO narrowband image imaged over 5 nights. I also took some RGB to use on the stars but decided during processing to stick with the SHO stars.
