Description

Main-belt asteroid (493) Griseldis was reported of being active in the past. Its activity was detected on March 17, 2015 when observed with the 8-meter Subaru Telescope on Mauna Kea. Asteroid had "an extended feature" or a tail, which was not in the antisolar direction. Shortly after the tail disappeared and observations taken on March 24 and April 18 revealed no presence of this "extended feature". It was suspected a possible impact event on this asteroid.
I observed (493) Griseldis on Apr. 3, 2023 using a 0.51-m f/4 Corrected Dall-Kirkham Astrograph of SSO (Q62). No suspicious activity was detected (which would be rather surprising). It is 16.6 mag (G).
