Description

The Crescent Nebula is formed from a "Wolf Rayet" star shedding gases which are then colliding with the competing wind caused by another star that became a red giant.  Understandably, this causes an asymmetry to the structure.   To me, the pattern (a net like gas, apparently encased with another gas) and its asymmetry make it resemble a supernova remnant such as the Cygnus Loop or M1 (the Crab Nebula), although it isn"t.
