Description

I've been waiting to image this one! I tried so many times to see the Triangulum through my 12" Dob, but it's low surface brightness and my local light pollution prevented it. So I put forward my best effort knowing shooting broadband in Bortle 8 would not be easy. I skipped shooting luminance because even in a 15 second test shot the histogram peak was further right than Ha at four minutes. The sheer number of frames needed was beyond my 32GB micro SD. I probably would have needed 128GB. So I went with 30 second subs in R,G, and B filters with the moon below the horizon and the gradients looked manageable. Even with that I still saw a weak crosshatch pattern in the R,G, and B stacks. I'm assuming these are reflection artifacts because I never see them when shooting with narrowband filters. Thankfully the Ha data looked really good. My broadband processing skills need some work but I'm very happy with this result.
