Description

The Whirlpool Galaxy, also known as Messier 51 or NGC 5194, is an interacting grand-design spiral galaxy with a Seyfert 2 active galactic nucleus. It lies in the constellation Canes Venatici, and was the first galaxy to be classified as a spiral galaxy. Its distance is 31 million light-years away from Earth.

Its our first picture with our brandnew Esprit150 (1050mm). We took that beautiful object on July 30th 2022. It was still with the old heavy overloaded Skywatcher EQ6 mount, so the object is not that sharp as we would have wished. But still we are very pleased with the result. Looking forward to capture M51 soon with our EQ8 RH Pro.
