Description

Close to the center of this image is an interesting feature called Rupes Recta, which is the most well known escarpment on the Moon; it appears in the image as a dark, nearly vertically oriented line. It is a lunar fault, which has resulted in two relatively flat regions that lie at different altitudes. Rupes Recta is about 100 km in length and has a width of 2 to 3 km. Its height is around 250 m, which means that its slope is relatively gradual. Also known as the Straight Wall, this feature is bracketed by the craters Thebit and Birt, on the right and left, respectively. Apparently there was too much drift in the 60s video and Registax could not successfully stack lucky capture frames; I resorted to examining by hand images from the first half of the video and selected the best twenty for stacking.

Technical data:

date and time = 1-4-2020, 20:15 MST

exposure = 0.007s

video duration = 60s, 1257 frames

lucky capture = 20 best frames

gain = 180
