Description

A quick first light with my new EQ6-R PRO mount. At last, I have something I can rely on to carry my C8. Compared with my old AS-GT mount, the EQ6-R PRO performs extraordinarily well. What a work horse of a mount!

The back focus to the reducer is slightly too long, so there are elongated stars in the corners. I'll have to live with that for now, as I don't have the necessary spacers to correct for it.

NGC 2281 is an open cluster in Auriga, discovered in 1788 by William Herschel. Distance and age are believed to be ~1,720 ly and ~650 million years, respectively. Perhaps not the most exciting of targets, but I wanted to keep things simple for this session.

Also, 98% full moon. :/
