Description

First time capturing the Rosette nebula and my first time venturing to a target outside of Orion, though not that far! Unfortunately after plate solving 3-4x to get it lined up, readjusting my polar, getting focus and getting phd working, I was only able to get about an hour on it with my l-Extreme before it got too low on the horizon and the light pollution gradient added was terrible.

I was able to get about the same the next using just a SVBONY CLS, with the thinking I could combine them to bring in some additional color and luminance.

Initial processing was grainy and terrible, so I dug into a PixInsight trial and watched a bunch of videos to end up with this which I am quite happy with. Used DBE, Background Neutralization, ColorCalibration, EZ Denoise and then processed in photoshop with arcsinh curves and levels, camera raw adjustments etc. I stacked the second nights data on top of it as monochrome and set the layer to luminosity, used minimum to reduce stars and here we are.

For my first run on Rosette and only about my third real target, first time using PixInsight I think it turned out OK.

Definitely open to harsh critique, constructive criticism, suggestions or tips/tricks for learning PixInsight or any good courses/articles/blogs/youtube to go over to learn this powerful and fun new tool.
