Description

Captured on 19-04-2020 with a Skywatcher 130PDS, OnStep converted EQ5 mount and DIY focuser, Canon 400D and SkyTech CLS clip filter under Bortle 5 skies.

Less integration time than I would have liked and difficult to remove the colour cast from the CLS filter in this instance. There was a problem with my flats as well and a strange ringing pattern I struggled to get rid of. Not entirely sure how that came about as I followed my usual procedures of using a homemade LED panel lightbox.

Difficult to make out a huge amount of detail at this resolution, even when Bayer Drizzled x2 using Astro Pixel Processor, but a substantially better image than the last time I imaged this with a barn door tracker and 200mm zoom lens.

Had to pull the background right back and crank up noise reduction to get rid of an extremely noisy background that was showing up as a mottled mess.

Would have liked to keep the background a little higher and with less overall contrast ideally, as it is starting to look over processed and I am losing a little of that faint detail that bleeds off of NGC 5195. It's there on my monitor, but my phone screen doesn't pick it up owing to calibration differences.

I particularly enjoy the nice blobs of Ha that are showing up in the spiral arms and the contrast of those deep browns in the dust lanes is fantastic to see.
