Description

IC 417, The Spider, is an emission nebula that is energized by embedded hot, massive blue stars. The bluish clouds of gas at the ear of Spider are locations of new star formation. The Spider Nebula is 100 light-years across, and The Fly is 10 light-years across. Both the Spider Nebula and the Fly Nebula are approximately 10,000 light-years away from Earth in the constellation of Auriga.
