Description

In three nights between March 25 and 27, 2022, I was able to photograph the beautiful galaxy M109 for a total of 12.4 hours in RGB. The seeing was very good almost all the time!
In addition, my cousin Tobias Lamb provided another 8 hours of material with his EdgeHD 800, which I used exclusively for the galaxy during image processing to further reduce the noise and to be able to tease out even more structure. I am particularly impressed by the details in the dust bands around the core of the galaxy.

The faintest objects in the image reach about 24 mag according to ALADIN.
