NGC 6914

This is NGC 6914, a pretty interesting object. Located about 6,000 light years away in the constellation Cygnus, what you’re looking at it is actually two nebula in one. The first is a reflection nebula—the blue—which is star light reflected off surrounding gas. This is buried in the middle of a really huge emission nebula, which is all the red you see, comprising ionized hydrogen glowing of its own accord, kind of like a neon sign. This is all in broadband, i.e. true color, visible light (albeit faint). Pretty happy with the result from my light polluted, red zone skies here in Richmond, all things considered. Especially that this is probably the lowest integration time I've ever put into a target. Don't know if it's the faster / larger aperture scope, or the lower noise camera, but I was pleasantly surprised what could be done with only 9 hours. It’s still got a little more noise than I would like, but that can likely be solved with more integration time in the future.
