Description

This is the North America Nebula, named as it kind of looks like the continent of North America. I've only captures a small piece of the whole nebula. The part I show here would the Texas, but it's rotated on its side.
[OK, it's kind of like seeing chapes in clouds... just trust me  ]

I plan on doing a mosaic to capture the whole thing sometime. The whole North America Nebula covers a region of the night sky 10 times larger than the full Moon. Yup.. It's HUGE but invisible to the naked eye due to all of the light pollution and our weak human eyes that can't see very far into the upper light spectrum. Luckily my astrophotography camera can

Once again I've processed this image using similar techniques that the use to process Hubble images. I've separated the wavelengths of light that ionized Hydrogen, Oxygen and Sulfur give off and assigned them the colors of Red, Blue and Green.

Regardless of the technobabble, I like the picture of the nebula and hope to capture it in its entirety soon.

Enjoy!
