Description

The Crab Nebula is a supernova remnant and pulsar wind nebula 6500 light years away in the constellation of Taurus. This supernova occurred around July 4, 1054 CE when Chinese astronomers noticed it was the 3rd brightest object in the sky after the sun and the moon for 3 weeks. This nebula has been expanding ever since.  This was the most difficult object for me to image to date. Not because of how small or far it is but the seeing conditions and equipment gremlins. This was taken over 4 nights. Some of the capture were out of focus. The challenge was to make a nice picture out of crappy data and I think I succeeded thanks to PixInsight, Adam Block's teachings, and special tools like deconvolution.
The challenge was also due to me using a Baader FFC at a focal length of over 4000mm pushing the limits of my 6 inch SCT!

Taken from my backyard under Bortle 8.4 skies.
