M106

M106 (NGC 4258) est une vaste galaxie spirale intermédiaire située dans la constellation des Chiens de chasse à 23,5 millions d'années-lumière. M106 a été découverte par l'astronome français Pierre Méchain en 1781. Apparemment, Charles Messier n'a ni observé ni enregistré cette galaxie dans son catalogue.

Cette image est une collaboration elle a été réalisé avec deux instruments , un Newton 12" pour les couches RVB et Ha et un C8 Edge HD pour la Luminance.

M106 (NGC 4258) is a vast intermediate spiral galaxy located in the constellation of the Hounds, 23.5 million light-years away. M106 was discovered by French astronomer Pierre Méchain in 1781. Apparently Charles Messier neither observed nor recorded this galaxy in his catalog.

This image is a collaboration and was made with two instruments, a 12" Newton for the RGB and Ha layers and a C8 Edge HD for the Luminance.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.

Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
