Description

I have to give credit to Bill Hall, @BillyBoyBoy, on this image.  He discussed this Galaxy in his "What's in the Sky" presentation at our last FW Astronomy Club meeting.  I am not super happy with the image and the back ground, I only had one night before clouds rolled in, plus I think I need to go to a dark site as I have some light pollution noise that I just could not get rid of.  Plus I think there is actually a lot of interstellar space dust and maybe some nebulosity that I tried too hard to eliminate, but I did not enough detail of it to look good.  But bottom line, there is a lot of cool stuff in this image if you are willing to explore it.

NGC7814  known also as Caldwell 43 is an edge-on spiral galaxy in Pegasus.  It is also referred to as the “Little Sombrero,”  Interestingly enough is about the same size as its bright namesake at around 60,000 light-years across, but as it lies almost twice as far away at around 40 million light years.

The Galaxy to the left from the top of NGC7814 is IC 5381 that is 540 million light years away and is believed to be a large galaxy with a diameter of 193,000 light years across.

There are two PGC small galaxies next to each also to the left from the bottom of NGC7814, you have to look hard as they are smaller than the star near them.  This is PGC 1500064 & 3377226 and they are my first captured galaxies that are over 1 billion light years away, they are estimated to be 1.4 and 1.3 billion light years away.  But I just found two more galaxies even farther away, according to my Sky Safari app, PGC 1513124 & 1513632 are straight to the left almost to the edge and are each estimated to be 1.7 billion light years away, so that is my new new record.

Two the right and the bottom of the image are three more galaxies, two that look like they are possibly interacting with each other gravity, IC 5378 and UGC1, both around 279 to 300 million  light years away.

I saw several other objects that appear to be galaxies, I just haven't researched all of them.  The Plate solved image showed around 17 PGC galaxies in the image, but my Sky Safari app showed a lot more than that.  You can click on the main image to pull up the plate solve information.
