Description

Zoom-in to the Pillars of Creation! :-)

Recently, while my photo gear was working I was gazing through the Milky Way with my binoculars (80x20) and I found these two guys and was astonished to find them both observable with just binoculars - wow! Nice target, I thought and so, I decided to image them with the Hypergraph 150/2.8 next time. It is my first attempt on these (yes, no kidding ;) and I was amazed to see the famous Pillars of Creation in the Eagle nebula (M16)!

M16 is 7000 LY away while M17 is closer, it is given with 5000-6000 LY

To be honest, I found M17, the Omega nebula, being the more interesting object with its wide, outreaching loops. I think it is more challenging to process a bit than M16.

Oh btw, this is the full field of the frame, no crop!

I might want to aim at it with my RC10" some day.... night! (as soon as I decide to have collected enough light of some other faint target (which may take some more nights, still). Good nightskies are never long and frequent enough..... oh dear!

;-)
