Description

This is a test shot to test out my recent woes with an internal reflection.

That issue is documented here:

https://www.astrobin.com/forum/c/astrophotography/equipment/sky-watcher-esprit-120-ed-internal-reflection-any-thoughts-on-a-remedy/

Long story, but the abridged version supports the hypothesis that my cheap glossy painted spacers (backfocus for this scope/flattener combo is 75mm) were leading to light reflections behind the 1.0 flattener and into the sensor of the 2600mc.  Thus I would suggest that the flattener itself is fine, the scope is fine, but my spacers were reflective.  First I used a simple bIack marker, and that did OK, but then ramped up the solution and used some Rustoleum flat black auto frame paint to hit the internal threads of the spacers, and reinstalled.

Et voila, so far so good.

So much for the fiddling with equipment.

What about NGC 891 itself?  Its a brilliant edge on unbarred spiral galaxy in Andromeda, a lovely fall DSO and a personal favourite.  Its reasonably large with a  60 thousand year radius, is about 28 million years away, and has an HII nucleus.  Mag 10.8.

To the left of 891 is a collection of small galaxies, and those provide a sort of a side show.

Thanks for looking.
