Description

M3 is a globular cluster located in the constellation Canes Venatici. It was discovered on 1764 by Charles Messier who mistook it for a nebula without stars. I:N 1784, William Herschel resolved the stars in the cluster. Made up of over 500,000 stars, M3 is approx 11.4 billion years old and is located approx 33,900 light years away from eartth.
