Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a spiral galaxy located 130 million light years away in the constellation of Eridanus at a declination of 0 degrees.  It is a magnitude 12 galaxy which spans 4 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a large diameter of 150,000 light years.

I love the symmetry of this galaxy disk – the core, the arms and the blue star clouds.  The disk is inclined about 15 degrees from edge-on, making it hard to trace the fragmented arms.
