Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a planetary nebula located 14,000 light years away in the constellation of Andromeda at a declination of +48 degrees.  It is magnitude 16.5 and spans 40 arc-seconds in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of about 2.5 light years.

This PN is one of many planetary nebulae that were named after their discoverer, Czech astronomer Dr. Luboš Kohoutek.

The OIII signal is stronger than the HII signal, leading to the blue-green color.  Looking closely, the brighter portion of the ring of this PN resembles a "U".

This PN reminds me in shape and color of Abell 81.  Amazingly, both of these PN are the same distance away and the same size.
