Description

This is my first image of the Horsehead nebula. I remember that I tried this object with my Nexstar Evolution 6 with lucky imaging in Y2019. I managed to see the head of the horse but that was it. Now I decided to point my RASA to it and was charmed. I started to image this object quite late - after dusk the Horsehead nebula was at the meridian so in practice I got about 2 hours of imaging time before reaching the 30 degrees above the horizon mark.

Each night I started my observations chasing the horse and afterwards switched to different targets. In this way I managed to collect about 10 hours of data.

Wow this nebula is beautiful. I love the small cloud and dust formations that can be seen all over the place. It is quite bright so processing is easy and residual noise is not that much.
