Description

NGC6960 The Algae Nebula (also known as the Algae Nebula or the Witch's Broom. It is a cloud of heated and ionized gas and dust that we see as an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. The nebula is made up of visible parts of the Cygnus Loop, which is large and relatively faint supernova remnant. The original supernova exploded about 5,000 to 8,000 years ago, and you can see the remnants in the image. The distance of the nebula is not exactly known, but data from the Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopy Explorer space telescope indicates a distance of 1,470 light years.
