Description

The California Nebula NGC1499 is an emission nebula found in the constellation Perseus. It gets its name from the fact that it resembles the outline of the state of California in long-exposure photographs. It is illuminated by radiation from the star Xi Persei.

Photograph taken with a narrow band duo-band filter, transformed to Ha-OIII pseudo colors and reintegrated into RGB. Stars taken with 28 shots of 180sec without filter.
