Description

Image taken five days after the August full moon with the encroaching terminator covering the East side of the image. Theophilus and Cyrillus top center,  and Descartes and the Apollo 16 landing site to the West. The Apollo 16 site is readily recognized as being located between the North Ray and South Ray which with this phase of the moon are highly reflective.  The astronaut's used the Lunar Roving Vehicle to tour and collect samples around the North and South Rays.
