Description

On Dec. 11, 2010 astronomer Steve Larson of the CSS observed main-belt asteroid (596) Scheila and suddenly detected its activity. Asteroid was a 13.5 mag object and displayed a "coma". Further investigation of archive observations showed that activity was triggered somewhere between Nov. 11 and Dec. 3 and caused by the impact of an unknown asteroid.
My images as expected did not show any activity, the asteroid has a stellar apparence. It is 14.3 mag now.
