Description

This is my first image of the iconic crater Clavius. I show it South up as we see it here in Australia and frankly having looked at the images in both directions, this one is easier on the eye.

This is an LRGB image, so in fact a colour picture. I used the IR 642nm BP image as Luminance at a 70% level.

The focal length used was 13.5m giving an image scale of 0.09 arc secs per pixel and a resolution of the order of 0.27 arc secs or ~ 500m on the lunar surface.

Of course the crater itself is large at 225km in diameter and it features the iconic arc of smaller craters, which increase/ decrease in size in a consistent way.

The larger craters in the background are Blancanus (105km) central and Scheiner (110km) right.

A wondrous part of the Moon.
