Description

I didn't really know much about this target before I looked at the integrated masters and went whoa, look at all that! I only remembered a bit about the main centerpiece, and not all the extra nebulosity around it. I didn't spend a lot of time processing this target, but I tried a few new things that I had just recently learned and played with on my last project (which was only a few days earlier). I didn't feel like I ended up doing a lot of work to this target, maybe because I could remember what I was doing ;)

I did a 90% SCNR instead of the SHO normalization script as I just liked how it looked much better. I feel like maybe I lost out on a bit of detail or colour, but it the scheme most suited my likes. I tried playing with some of the new GraXpert toolbox scripts, but never ended up using any of them and found it hard to really get a get feel for what they were truly doing until I exited the script as the preview was just too small/contained. I definitely think there is something there with those tools, along with some of the other colour mod tools, but they'll take some more serious, dedicated time to learn and play with. I felt I used more old school Masters of PixInsight methods than newer scripts this round, which I guess is not a bad thing, but does make me feel like maybe I'm missing out on something.

While it's a really rusty looking SHO colour scheme, I think it's still good and fading out some of the fainter stuff improved the contrast and smoothness overall. I like when you can see some actual background space, vs 100% nebulosity covering the frame like in my previous piece: The Elephant's Trunk.
