Description

Here's my recent take on the molecular cloud MBM 54 which is seen from a distance of 500 to 800 ly. The molecular cloud is quite faint. Luckily, there's also a nice star field and the galaxy NGC 7497 has a guest appearance.

My understanding is that MBM 54 is the cloud directly above the galaxy. MBM 54 is accompanied by MBM 53 and MBM 55. I am not sure if these are present in the image since I haven't found an annotated image.

Imaging was interrupted by a drama moment... One night, the forecast was fine and the skies were perfectly clear so I went to bed in order to be back three hours later to supervise the meridian flip. Instead I woke up one hour later due to the noise of rain hitting the window... rushed out on the balcony to bring it all in. Fortunately, everything still works :-)
