It appears to be so simple to image a giant emission nebula like the Rosette Nebula. It is, if you take care of your equipment. Especially the position of your camera. What I want to say: Make sure, every screw is fixed, so nothing moves. And it does not move several nights in a row. It might destroy efforts. At least it makes you decide, which footage you are going to use and which not.
I already learned a lot of lessons while learning astrophotography, this one was new. Two of the screws of my TSA-120 rotator were kind of loose, so over time, my main target, Mel 47, moved... And since I did not process everything immediately - I did not realize it...

Anyway: I had to get rid of about ten hours of imaging - or crop NGC 2237 in three quarters... I decided to keep it as complete as the focal length allows... No complains, no worries (any more) - but I will keep that one in mind in the future FOR SURE.

The Rosette Nebula is a great target, everybody knows that. The TSA-120 without reducer is just a little bit too close (to my taste) for this object, but anyway: it looks great. But then again - those ten hours of SII, Ha and RGB... sic...

I might come back to this target next winter, maybe with the not so cheap reducer.... but certainly with NO MOVEMENT... :-)

Title: HSO - complete footage

Description: For this version I used all the footage I had gathered. I did not use part of it in my first version, because I had problems with the framing. (my fault. sic.) For this second version I had to crop much more. To my great pleasure the result looks pretty good and much better than the first image. This is, on the other hand, not a big surprise since the additional footage adds about 8 hours of exposure time to the OIII and SII channel and about one hour or so to the RGB.
