Description

Continuing nebula season, this image captures Sh2-190, aka the Heart Nebula.  This nebula contains two active star forming regions identified by Gart Westerhout in his radio survey of the Milky Way.  W3 is the bright, compact region at the lower right, while W4 is the core of the larger heart shaped region in the center of the image.  W3 in particular is a complex region with several groups of young stars indicating multiple waves of star formation over the last 4 million years.
