Description

Definitely not enough time spent imaging this target (only 2 hours, 51 minutes), but wanted to see what the little blue telescope could capture during a first quarter moon on a beautiful May evening in central Pennsylvania.
  • Revision A: Original image with aquisition details.
  • Revision B: Same as original (Revision A), but without the acquisition details.
  • Revision C: Two different views of M64: (a) wide field image taken using a RedCat51 refractor (focal length = 249mm) and (b) narrow-field view taken using a 8" Meade LX200 SCT (focal length = 1431mm). A few facts about the galaxy and the astronomer who discovered it are added out of curiosity..
